House asking for your ideas on how to close the budget deficit

At 3:30 pm today (Friday) the Governor will announce his unallotment strategy to close the $426 million budget deficit for the current fiscal year. You can watch a live webcast of it (thanks to Senate media). At 2:30 pm, legislative leaders will discuss their view of the deficit (webcast live as well).

As reported by the Duluth News Tribune and MPR’s Polinaut blog, the Minnesota House of Represenatives has put up a website where you can share your suggestions for how the state can solve our budget deficit.  Why not take them up on it?  Here’s what the Minnesota Budget Project will be saying this session: State policymakers must take a balanced approach to the state’s budget deficit and avoid policy choices, like excessive spending cuts, that make the economic downturn more painful. The deficit is simply too large to take raising revenues off the table.
