Another opportunity for you to talk about the impact of the state budget deficit

As the legislative session starts this week, many policymakers are talking about the importance of everyone sharing their ideas about how we should get out of this giant budget hole. In an earlier post, Katherine wrote about the web site that the Minnesota House of Representatives is using to collect ideas for addressing the deficit.

Now Minnesota Public Radio is also looking for folks weigh in on the problem. Through their Public Insight Network, there is an opportunity to answer several important questions, including:

  1. What would you cut from the budget first? Why?
  2. What would you tell state leaders to avoid doing at all costs? Why?
  3. Do you work for a state agency or organization (public schools, etc.) that depends on state funding?
  4. If so, what kind of impact do you think the state’s projected budget deficit will have on you or your group?

It is important that we all be telling the stories about how cuts to the state’ s budget would have a real impact on people’s lives. As they say, your insights can help inform and even make the news.
