A recent phone call with advocates from other states drove home to me how effective the Minnesota Budget Project is – and what a great state we live in.
As the Minnesota Budget Project’s lead on health care reform issues, I frequently talk to people about how implementing the Affordable Care Act is progressing in our state.
It turns out Minnesota is way ahead of all other states in adopting key provisions of the law that ensure everyone has access to affordable and meaningful health care insurance. People in other states envy us!
It’s another example of our leadership in Minnesota. We were at the table, working with allies and policymakers to ensure that the state made decisions that will improve health care for all Minnesotans. And we succeeded!
This is a big deal. A really big deal. The policies adopted this year – creating MNsure, expanding Medicaid and preserving MinnesotaCare – will go a long way toward making sure everyone has affordable health care.
But the work is not done. Fine-tuning the health care accomplishment of 2013 will be a top priority for the Minnesota Budget Project in 2014.
We can’t do that work without your support. Your tax-deductible contribution will make sure we continue to produce the research that policymakers rely upon when casting votes on critical issues.
Your donation will keep me working with allies, testifying at hearings and educating policymakers as we move into the next phase of health care reform.
It’s just one piece of the work we do, but it is the part of the work that most inspires me.
